We headed out to the beach again last week  The kids loved the sand and had the best time.  Can't ya tell?

Cousin Ryder
Cydney wasn't so sure about the water though...

  1. I have read your blog for some time now...but never commented :) I just wanted to say how great your photos look! You have really developed your photography skills and they look fantastic. Can I ask how you develop them (photoshop?)and how do you get them to be so large on your page? I was given a Nikon D3000 for my birthday and am having fun working out how to use it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Hi CherylAnn!

Thanks so much for your comment! I have become obsessed with taking pictures...it's a good creative outlet for me.

I do use Photoshop CS4 to post process pics. I honestly don't know exactly what I'm doing, though. I have played around with the program since February or so.

There is a website (www.ilovephotography.com) that a pro-photog referred me to that has some really good info. There are many photographers that give lots of hints and tricks at taking better pictures and using photoshop.

Another thing that I just invested in was a 50mm/1.4 lens. It makes a big difference with the quality of the pictures (in my opinion). It's a portrait lens (which I love b/c I take mostly photos of Coy & Cyd).

So glad you love your D3000! Have fun! Let me know if you have any other questions...I hope I helped you some!

  4. Thank you SO much for your reply :) I will check out the website. I've been thinking that maybe my next step might be investing in another lens. My biggest joy is also taking photos of my children.
My family and I went on a trip around Australia last month (I live in Australia) and I was disappointed that I mostly ended up using automatic settings as I didn't know much about taking landscapes and scenes in manual mode. I'm a little better on close ups and portraits in manual.
Thanks again for the reply and I will just keep practicing and checking back for any tips on your blog.
    Blessings,
    Cheryl
